HEALING OUR PLANET
This Earth Day, Wednesday, April 22, we have an opportunity to honor and heal Planet Earth. While we are physically apart, we still share this same ground, this same air, this same water.
We honor all living beings, and hope our words and actions reduce suffering and enhance peace for all creatures.

CLIMATE ACTION GROUPS
SIERRA CLUB REDWOOD CHAPTER'S CLIMATE PROTECTORS
Sierra Club Climate Protectors are a group of local activists who are learning the science of climate change so their actions are based upon solid factual foundation, takes to minimize personal contributions to global warming, and works with others locally and beyond on meaningful actions to address climate change.
WECAN: Working Group for Emergency Climate Action Now
A local activist group that works with Santa Rosa City Council officials to advocate for and encourage aggressive climate action.
CONGAS: Coalition Opposing New Gas Stations
A grassroots coalition whose mission is to stop the construction of any new gas stations in Sonoma County and its nine cities. They are currently opposing three proposals in the central parts of the county with the message that new gas stations should not be permitted during the climate crisis, which runs counter to the cities' and county's stated policies on climate.
Due to the Covid-19 crisis the group is not sure when it will resume face-to-face meetings but its members continue to monitor proposals, lobby decision-makers and will attend public hearings when applicable.
The Sunrise Movement is a national youth-led movement to end the climate crisis by advocating for a Green New Deal that provides us with a livable future and good jobs. The Sonoma County hub has been active since 2018 and has hosted youth climate strikes, various trainings, and other community events based on restoring our climate through political power.
Founded in 2012 by Sonoma County residents, 350 Sonoma engages our community in the work of 350.org, the worldwide organization founded by Bill McKibben, and other local actions to demand action to restore atmospheric CO2 to safe levels. We seek to create a county-wide sense united purpose to speed us away from fossil fuels and accelerate our collective path to a zero carbon footprint and a 100% clean energy future.
