What is the Monte Velho property like? 

Monte Velho is nestled within the southwestern Algarve region in the forest and on the Atlantic coast. Its holistic center offers comfort and space designed for relaxation and practice. Yoga spaces feature round wood architecture and heated cork floors, inspired by the Brazilian rainforest. Rooms are cozy and simply decorated to help you unwind and feel cared for.

Carrapateira is 4 km away. It has restaurants, small shops, and two beautiful beaches. You can get there by taxi, car, bike, or on foot (for those comfortable walking).

Carrapateira’s beaches, Amado and Bordeira, are about 3.5 km away:
o By car: 6 minutes
o By taxi or bike: 20 minutes to Amado Beach
o Walking: About 1 hour 15 minutes to Amado Beach

What is the weather in the Algarve region that time of year? 

The average daily temperatures in the Algarve in June range between 18°C (64°F) and 25°C (77°F). The region experiences mild mornings and evenings, while the afternoons tend to be warmer. However, temperatures can sometimes climb higher, reaching around 30°C (86°F) on particularly hot days.
 

What is the food like at Monte Velho? 

Delicious healthy, vegetarian and vegan meals are prepared fresh daily for our group with organic and local products. Adaptations for allergies and intolerances are available.

What's the best airport to fly into?

Fly into Faro Airport (airport code: FAO).

Do you have any idea what flights will cost? 

While flight costs and fuel costs are ever changing, roundtrip prices in summer 2025 from SFO to Faro roundtrip were about $1,000. We will have flight recommendations for the group as the retreat dates approach.

We will work on arranging airport transport for those who need it. But you also can arrange your own transportation, including renting a car or taking a taxi.

What is the daily schedule? 

Each day includes 2 yoga practices, 3 healthy meals, ceremony and rituals and plenty of downtime to enjoy the property, explore the surrounding land and head to the beach.

What if I'm not feeling good about my current yoga practice? 

There is no yoga prerequisite or requirement. Come as you are. The yoga practice will meet you at your current level. 

What are the property's wellness amenities?

Monte Velho has a pool. Its serene space includes a relaxing sauna, a revitalizing steam bath and a tranquil therapy room designed to rejuvenate your body and mind. 

When is the last day to register? 

Early Bird pricing ends on Jan. 31, 2026, and registration closes when the retreat is full or May 14, 2026, whichever comes first.  But don't wait to secure the accomodation of your choice.

What are the differences of accommodations?

Each room has a private bath with showers, patios, and amazing views, except the dorm room, which has a bathroom that is a short walk from the room. The rooms are cozy with simple decoration, all that is needed for letting go and surrendering to the space of being taken care of, as you walk out the door, may be the sun light or the magical sky stars salute.

How do I register? 

$400 Deposit reserves your spot. You can make installments or pay it all up front.

What is your cancellation policy?

• Deposits are non-refundable.

• After Feb 28, 2026, 50% refund of what you have paid to date, minus deposit.

• No refunds after April 1, 2026.
